A really nice project aimed at compiling an encyclopedia derived from all those clues, off-hand references, tid-bits and loose ends that H. Beam Piper left scattered all through his stories like a marvelous trail of breadcrumbs.

Hundreds of French comics characters that are in the process of getting translated and transferred over to the English-speaking part of the world. There are some fascinating characters in this lot.

Holly Lisle's Web-Empire
This author will give you plenty to think about and reading her blog, or sifting through her site's cornucopia of resources will we time well spent. She can improve your writing just by listening to her advice. Her articles on Worldbuilding are very well thought out and very much worth reading. Her article on Why Everyone Shouldn't Like You is highly recommended, as is her tongue in cheek piece on How to Write Suckitudinous Fiction.

The one-stop spot for just about everything the old gentleman from Providence ever wrote and then some.

H is for Historically Hardcore

The poster above is only one of a series that were created by artist Jenny Burrows and copywriter Matt Kappler during school for their portfolios. Originally they used the logo of a famous museum in their posters, but the famous museum was not impressed. So they went back and removed the famous museum's logo and dropped-in a nifty little placeholder/mock logo and chose to make the posters promote 'Museums' as a generic way to promote all museums equally, including the famous museum that snubbed their incredibly funny and well-done efforts. It is amazing how tortuous and difficult some folks make it to help them out. Any museum that received such a wonderful bit of unexpected support ought to be grateful, not all pissy-bitchy. But hey, it happens. You can read all about the Historically Hardcore Adventure of Jenny & Matt. You can see some of the posters at Design Milk, or go to Web Urbanist. You can make cool things and give them away in support of an ideal, a cause, a community or even a museum and get flat-out rejected. But hey, that's life. Don't let the Acephelic jerks get you down: Go Make More Cool Stuff. Eventually someone will notice what you are up to and who knows where it might lead.
